Janakpurdham, Feb 7: This year’s Amit Jha Literature Music Award has been posthumously awarded to the noted classical musician, the late Gurudev Kamat.
During the inaugural session of the Sixth Janakpur Literature Festival on Thursday, Chief Minister of Madhesh Province Satish Kumar Singh and Ram Narayan Jha, father of the late Amit Jha, handed over the prize to Sagunwati Devi Kamat, the spouse of the late Gurudev Kamat.
The prize includes a cash purse of Rs 105,000.
The Amit Jha Literature Music Prize is awarded annually to individuals in recognition of their contributions to the fields of literature and music. The late Kamat, who passed away six months ago, made lasting contributions to Nepal’s classical music.
Additionally, musician Ashok Dutta, a cancer patient, received Rs 51,000 for his treatment. #kamat #gurudev #nepal #janakpur#
