Annual budget of nearly Rs 190 billion to be presented today

Kathmandu, May 29: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel is scheduled to present the annual estimates of revenue and expenditure (the national budget) for the fiscal year 2025/26 in the joint meeting of both houses of the Federal Parliament today.

The meeting, which will begin at 3:00 PM, will include the presentation of the fiscal budget as per Article 119 of the Constitution of Nepal, according to Padma Prasad Pandey, Secretary General of the Federal Parliament. The Parliament Secretariat has requested all members of both houses to be present in the House of Representatives chamber by 2:45 PM.

Before that, a meeting of the House of Representatives will be held at 1:30 PM where Finance Minister Paudel will also present the Economic Survey for the fiscal year 2024/025.

Similarly, in the National Assembly meeting scheduled for 1:45 PM, Finance Minister Paudel will present the Economic Survey for FY 2024/025, as per the tentative agenda made public.

According to sources, Finance Minister Paudel will present a budget of nearly Rs. 190 billion, amidst a pressure on multiple fronts including revenue generation, domestic borrowing, salary hikes for government employees.

The opposition parties were obstructing the house proceedings for three days and demanding the resignation of Home Affairs Minister Mr Ramesh Lekhak. They alleged that the Home Minister Lekhak was extorting huge sum of money while issuing ‘visit visa’. #nepal #budget
