ANO opens its ninth branch in Canada



Kathmandu, May 11: The Association of Nepali Origin (ANO) has expanded its ninth international branch to Canada.

ANO is a non-profit organization dedicated to uniting and serving individuals of Nepali heritage worldwide. Its mission is to foster unity, celebrate culture, and empower Nepali expatriates to thrive in diverse societies while preserving their rich heritage.

ANO stated in a press release that a new executive committee was announced under the chairmanship of Chitra Pradhan at a ceremony held on Sunday in Toronto, Canada. Pradhan has been teaching in Canada for a long time.

Amy Karmacharya has been elected as the vice-chairperson, Muga Rajbhandari as the general secretary, Bhim Sigdel as the secretary, Laxmi Prasad Timsina as the treasurer, and Juni Chapagain as the spokesperson of the committee.

Similarly, Bhim Pathak, Santosh Timsina, Lalit Koirala, Ramesh Timsina, Roshan Bhattarai and Jaya Prasad Humagain have been nominated as board members.

Addressing the programme, ANO’s central president Dilli Adhikari and general secretary Chudamani Bhattarai stated that ANO is not a rival organisation to NRNA but has been established as a common platform to socially, culturally and economically connect Nepali-origin people around the world who are not included by NRNA.

The newly elected president Chitra Pradhan expressed his commitment to actively work towards preserving Nepali art and culture while uniting the Nepali, Bhutanese, and Indian Nepali-speaking communities in Canada.

At the programme, the President of NRNA Canada Jagan Sapkota, Treasurer Indira Rizal, Professor Dr Tulsi Dharel, Dr Govinda Singh Rawat, Professor Dr Rajendra Panthi and others extended their best wishes to the newly formed executive committee. RSS #Nepal
