Arjun Narsingh KC against time-limit in investigation of corruption

Nepali Congress leader Arjun Narsingh KC

Kathmandu, Aug 28: Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Arjun Narsingh KC has provisions for an elected Prime Minister and a Constitutional Prime Minister in the context of Nepal.

As he argued, such provisions are capable of achieving political stability and an appropriate one for Nepal.

Airing his views in a special hour of the House of Representatives (HoR) today, he said such provision will relieve political parties from the compulsion of forming and sustaining the government on the basis of an alliance. As he said, this will also address the need to change the government frequently at the provincial level, too.

“The Constitution is an amendable document but the matters for amendment should be decided through a wider consensus.”

He pressed the need to amend it without impacting its inclusive characteristics. He also utilised the forum to urge the government to withdraw a provision of a five-year time-limit in the investigation against corruption proposed in the Bill to amend the Prevention of the Corruption Act- 2059 BS (2002) and prove that it is in favour of good governance.

Expressing concerns over ‘increasing anarchy’ in the country, he stressed that it is the first responsibility of the State to address the concerns of youths who are growing up in the digital age. #corruption #NC
