Athbiskot disaster: Bodies of three buried girls recovered, search for missing one continues



Rukum, July 16: The bodies of three girls who were buried in Rukum West last night when their houses were swept away by the flood have been exhumed. Three girls were buried when the house was swept away by the flood in the Jhinchaur River of Athaviskot Municipality 12.

The bodies of 10-year-old Hitmaya Pun, eight-year-old Dhansa Pun and four-year-old Manisha Sarki were recovered, informed Rabi KC, Mayor of Athbiskot municipality.

According to him, the search is on for 40-year-old Dilli Bahadur Budhathoki. It is suspected that he may have been buried in the house where he lived. Mayor KC informed that after the house was swept away by the flood with mud, preparations are being made to remove the mud by using a dozer.

Seven people who were injured in the flood are being treated at the Athbiskot Municipal Hospital. Locals 12-year-old Binay Sarki, 22-year-old Manisha Pun, 29-year-old Janak Khatri, six-year-old Mansari Pun, four-year-old Mexon Pun, 28-year-old Dhanmaya Pun and 65-year-old Kalpana Kami were injured. Mayor KC informed that security personnel, local residents and others are searching for the missing persons at the scene.
