Baitadi, Feb 6: The death toll from a bus accident carrying wedding guests in Baitadi, a far western hilly district of Nepal, has reached 13. Eight people died at the scene, while five others succumbed to their injuries at Dadeldhura Hospital.
The bus (registration number Sup Pra 02-001 Kha 1119), which was traveling from Bhawan of Purchaudi Municipality–7 in Baitadi toward Bajhang, met with an accident on Thursday evening at Badgaun in Purchaudi–7.
According to Baitadi Police Chief Deepak Kumar Rai, those who died at the scene include: Keshab Raj Joshi (40), Ashok Raj Joshi (13), Basanta Joshi (35), and Bisandatta Joshi (41) of Bitthadchir Rural Municipality–7, Bajhang; Mohan Dev Bhatt (60) of Kedarsyu Rural Municipality, Bajhang; Basanta Raj Ratala (40) of Jayaprithvi Municipality, Bajhang; and Pushpa Awasthi (40) of Purchaudi–7, Baitadi. The identity of one deceased person is yet to be confirmed.
Those who died while undergoing treatment at Dadeldhura Hospital have been identified as Bisandatta Joshi (17), Deepak Raj Joshi (28), and Kisan Datta Joshi (46) of Bitthadchir Rural Municipality–7, Bajhang; Keshav Raj Bhatt (27) of Kedarsyu Rural Municipality–7, Bassi, Bajhang; and Sushil Joshi (15) of Purchaudi Municipality–7, Baitadi.
A total of 34 others were injured in the accident. The injured are receiving treatment in Dadeldhura, Dhangadhi, and Bajhang hospitals. The bride and groom were not traveling on the bus. #nepal #accident
