Kathmandu, March 12: Senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, Balendra (Balen) Shah, has started the political meetings following the recent parliamentary elections. On Thursday morning, Shah held a meeting with Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Chairman of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP).

According to sources, Shah arrived at Prachanda’s residence in Hattiban, Lalitpur, at around 8:30 a.m., where the two leaders held discussions for nearly an hour. Sources said the meeting marked the third meeting between Shah and Prachanda since the elections.

Party sources from the RSP said Shah, who is preparing to assume office as Prime Minister, has begun consultations with leaders of various political parties. Meetings with leaders from other parties are also expected in the coming days.

In the House of Representatives election held on March 5, 2026 the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) secured 125 seats under the first-past-the-post system, and 57 seats from proportional system.

Political observers say Shah could take office as Prime Minister towards the end of the first week of Chaitra (Nepali month), as the party has secured landslide victory in the election. #nepal #balen
