Kathmandu, March 20: Senior leader of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), rapper-turned politician and former Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balendra Shah (Balen), is preparing to take the oath of office as Prime Minister on March 27, following internal party discussions.

According to party sources, the date was finalized during a meeting of four top leaders held on Thursday evening. The meeting, held at a hotel in Kathmandu, was attended by party President Rabi Lamichhane, senior leader Shah, and vice presidents DP Aryal and Dr Swarnim Wagle.

A party leader said discussions focused on post-election review, formation of the new government, and addressing governance issues. Leaders also deliberated on cabinet formation, management of aspirants, and the agenda for the first Cabinet meeting.

President Ram Chandra Paudel will invite parties to claim for the position of Prime Minister in accordance with Article 76(1) of the Constitution. According to the Constitution, leader of the parliamentary party leader will be appointed as the prime minister.

The Election Commission of Nepal submitted the election report on Thursday evening to the President. Now, the new government formation officially started after the election report.

Meanwhile, the Federal Parliament Secretariat has scheduled the swearing-in ceremony of newly elected Members of Parliament for March 26 at 2:00 p.m., following consultations with six parties represented in the House of Representatives. #nepal #election #balen
