Banke local levels ensure funds for disaster management



NEPALGUNJ: Nepalgunj, June 16: All eight local levels in Banke have launched the Disaster Management Fund along with formulation of polices aimed to reduce disaster risks.

Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolis has deposited Rs 12.08 million to the Fund, while Kohapur Municipality has secured Rs 1.38 million, Baijanath Rural Municipality Rs 8.11 million, Janaki Rural Municipality Rs 1.25 million, Duduwa Rural Municipality Rs one million, Raptisonari Rural Municipality Rs 2,73,000 and Narainapur Rs 500,000 in the Fund.

According to information officer at District Emergency Response Operation Centre, Rupan Gyawali, the local governments have brought such Fund into operation, bearing in mind the possibility for disasters.

Chief of Forest, Environment and Disaster Management at Narainapur Rural Municipality, Binod Chaudhary, informed that incidents of fire and inundations were frequent in Narainapur.

The District Disaster Management Committee, Banke said materials required for disaster preparedness were in stock in the district.

There are 19 helipads and necessary workforce including 12 rubber boats in the local levels, which would be used for rescue operations- for potential cases of fire and inundations.  #nepal#rss
