KATHMANDU: Three names have been recommended for the vacant post of Executive Director in Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC).

The meeting of the Executive Director Selection Committee has recommended the names of Chandika Prasad Bhatta of Gorkha, Jiwan Prakash Sitaula of Tehrathum and Umesh Prasad Thani of Surkhet.

A total of 16 candidates applied for the post. Bhatta is the Executive Director at Special Economic Zone Authority, Nepal (SEZ), a body under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies.

Retired Joint Secretary Sitaula was earlier the Director General of the Department of Industry. However, he had served many government agencies.

Thani, who was at the bottom of the recommendation, was earlier a member of the Board of Directors of the Electricity Authority. Thani’s qualifications were publicly questioned after he applied for leadership in the corporation.

The NOC has come under intense pressure after the sharp rise of the prices of petroleum products globally. In such a difficult situation, the NOC has no Executive Director, the highest post in the organization.
