Jiri, Sept 16: Bhimeswor municipality of Dolakha has been declared the first-ever child-friendly local government in State-3.
State-3 Minster for Social Development Yuwaraj Dulal declared Bhimeswor as child-friendly local government amidst a programme on Sunday. Bhimeswor municipality has met all the child friendly local governance (CFLG) indicators to become the first local government in the State-3.
Minister Dulal unveiled the target to make State-3 a child-friendly State by 2080 BS and a child marriage free State by 2078 BS.
As the constitution has guaranteed child rights, all sectors should work in tandem to materialize the statutory guarantees in practice, Minister Dulal said.
On the occasion, Bhimeswor municipality Mayor Bharat Bahadur KC said CFLG campaign has initiated with the declaration of child-friendly local government.
He shared the municipality has appropriated budget for children in different headings. The municipality has met 12 indicators related to child security, five of child protection, six of child development and 12 of child participation and completed 16 steps to become the child-friendly municipality.
