
Biratnagar, May 15: At a time when the government arrears witnessed a surge, Biratnagar Metropolitan City (BMC) has been able to limit the arrears to 0.32 percent.
The 62nd annual report of the Office of Auditor General made public on Thursday showed this finding. With this, BMC has topped the financial good governance indicator among municipalities in Nepal.
In the auditing of Rs 6.44 billion at BMC, only Rs 20.8 million was found as arrears. Chief of financial administration division at BMC, Sanjeev Kumar Bhattarai, shared in the fiscal year, 2080/81, BMC was able to clear arrears of Rs 210 million.
BMC Mayor Nagesh Koirala said he had vowed reducing arrears to zero since his assumption of office. There was nearly Rs 2 billion of arrears when he assumed the post. It is now reduced to total Rs 310 million. #nepal #Biratnagar Metropolitan #rss
