CAAN suspends three helicopter pilots

Kathmandu, March 23: The Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) has suspended a pilot for ‘having a negative conversation’ with the Air Traffic Controller (ATC).

According to Jagannath Niraula, spokesperson of the authority, a pilot of the Annapurna helicopter who spoke obscene words to the tower during the Kathmandu-Lukla flight was grounded. “On March 21, 2023, while flying from Kathmandu to Lukla, a pilot of the Annapurna helicopter made a miscommunication, so he was grounded,” said Niraula.

Similarly, the pilots of two more helicopter companies who violated flight safety standards have been grounded. Pilots of Air Dynasty and Fistel Air flew helicopters in the airspace designated as ‘paragliding zone’ in Pokhara. These three pilots will not be allowed to fly the helicopter until further notice.
