Birgunj, Dec 17: Speakers of a programme here today have stressed the need to align the university curriculum with the federalism model when the country has already switched to this system.
Taking part in a discussion programme organised by the Madhesh University Federalism Study Centre, Birgunj, the participants advocated this.
Former member in the National Assembly (NA), Khimlal Devkota, said the University course of studies should incorporate the contents regarding federalism.
“The role of universities is significant to implement federalism,’ he said, adding that the real goal of federalism will be served if the academic/education sector addresses the spirit of federalism.
Devkota who is also an expert in federalism was of the opinion that universities should ensure the course of studies in federalism to ease an atmosphere for its implementation. “We are in a preliminary phase of the federalism implementation and in this situation, universities’ role is vital to educate the public about.”
Madhes University Vice Chancellor Deepak Shakya said the establishment of the University itself is an initiation to implement federalism, though it is just a small example.
The BA LLB and BPA courses are available at the University where around 250 students are presently enrolled.
Parsa’s Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal highlighted the contribution from all quarters to effectively implement federalism. #nepal #federalism
