Mustang, Feb 22: A campaign has been launched to manage lead, metal and plastic wastes in Mustang.
Local levels, the Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), the Mothers’ Groups and the Youth Clubs have gathered to manage plastic, metal and lead garbage in order to revive pristine nature, reducing pollution.
Chief of ACAP Jomsom, Pramod Raj Regmi, shared that they had made arrangement to collect non-biodegradable wastes from the trekking routes and settlements and management in a particular place.
He shared, “The campaign has been launched to manage non-biodegradable waste in response to the increasing pollution in Mustang, which poses a serious threat to human health, and to the domestic and wild animals as well.”
The ACAP has arranged the transportation of the collected waste to Pokhara Recycling Centre, Regmi informed, adding that an agreement was signed with Green Road Waste Management Pvt. Ltd in Pokhara for its disposal.
According to ACAP, Pokhara, total 1,986 kgs of non-biodegradable waste was lately and sent to Pokhara.
Earlier on January 17, as much as 1,238 kgs of such waste collected at Syang and Thini of Gharpajhong was sent to Pokhara for disposal.
Preparation was underway to establish an additional garbage collection centres at Ghansa, Lete and Lobang this year.
