Washington, June 11: The US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the US military has completed additional defensive strikes against multiple targets in Iran.

CENTCOM confirmed that the operations were in response to what it described as Iranian threats against US forces and international commercial vessels transiting regional waters.

In a statement, CENTCOM said that US forces targeted Iranian military surveillance capabilities, communications systems, and air defense sites in various parts of Iran. CENTCOM denied Iran’s claims regarding the complete closure of the Strait of Hormuz, asserting that commercial vessels continue to transit the strait in both directions normally.

In contrast, Iran’s military command announced the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to all types of vessels, including oil tankers and commercial ships, warning that any vessel attempting to transit the waterway would be targeted.  (QNA)
