Jhapa, Feb 22: Birtamod municipality in the district has distributed 325 chaff cutters to the farmers involved in animal husbandry. The municipality provided the mechanical devices used to shred grass and fodder in 50 per cent grant.
Local farmers are happy after getting the livestock tool. Mayor Pabitra Mahatara Prasain said chaff cutters worth Rs 9.5 million were distributed to the farmers to help modernize and commercialize agriculture and livestock. It further makes the farmers technology-friendly.
The municipality has given high priority to the development of agriculture. Chief of Livestock and Fishery Development Office, Birtamod, Dr Nagendra Khadka, shared that the municipality had been distributing chaff cutters, milk chilling vat, milk cans, and cow mats to the farmers every year with an objective of making them technology-friendly.
A farmer Laya Prasad Rijal mentioned that the farmers had fully utilized the machines provided by the municipality at a subsidized rate. They were also imparted training to use the device.
The local level had issued a public notice and collected application from the farmers willing to get chaff cutters. Onsite monitoring of livestock farming was conducted before distribution of the tools. #farmer #nepal rss
