Kathmandu, Nov 7: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has extended best wishes to all Nepali sisters and brothers on the occasion of the sacred festival Chhath which is celebrated by offering prayers to the Sun.
PM Oli took to the social media to extend his best wishes on the occasion.
The existence of nature, human beings and other life species is well connected with the sun and the measurement of time also starts with the planets revolving around the sun.
Prime Minister Oli has said that the sun has been worshiped as a deity since ancient times by our ancestors. “Our ancestors have been worshiping the sun as the ancient god since time immemorial. My best wishes to all on the occasion of the sacred festival being celebrated by worshipping the sun”, the message reads.
Festivals serve for enhanced social ties and cultural harmony
Likewise, Nepali Congress (NC) President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba defined the festivals as the heritage of social ties and cultural harmony.
In his message of best wishes on the occasion of the Chhath festival, he said the festivals have helped further enhance the sense of shared feeling and prepared the foundation of unity and reconciliation among all.
President Deuba wished happiness, peace, prosperity and success to all including the Terai people. “Nepal is a country with various festivals, religious and cultural customs. We have our own harmonious tradition of respecting all religious and cultural practices”, Deuba said in the message.
‘May Chhath festival strengthen social unity’
Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Devraj Ghimire said the Chhath festival may strengthen social unity and promote religious good will.
In his message of best wishes on the occasion of the festival, he stressed the need to bring together all sides of the society for realizing shared purpose.
Speaker Ghimire extended best wishes to all Nepalis at home and abroad for their happiness, peace, prosperity and continued progress.
He also wished that may the Chhath festival inspire all to develop mutual harmony, brotherhood and tolerance.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of the National Assembly Narayan Prasad Dahal expressed his confidence that the Chhath festival should play special role in strengthening social, cultural harmony and national unity.
In his greetings message on the same occasion, Dahal said was a cultural feature of Nepali community to celebrate the festivals as per one’s culture and creed and show reciprocal respect to the festivals of other communities. #chhath #nepal
