Child labor in brick kilns, government looks indifferent (Photo Feature)

Child labour

Kathmandu: Children should be able to read, they should have health care. This is the fundamental right of every children. The Constitution of Nepal itself has accepted the right of children to get education and health as fundamental rights.

The various laws related to rights of children have ensured the rights of children’s health, education, protection and participation to the local level.

Education, health, child protection, child participation and all the direct actions related to children and fulfilling their rights are under the role of the local level.

But the local government is oblivious to ensuring children’s rights and empowering children. They are making a living by laboring instead of education and health. You don’t have to go far to see examples of this. There are many children working in brick kilns in Kathmandu valley.
