China pledges Rs 11 billion for Ring Road Kathmandu expansion



Kathmandu, April 29: The China government has pledged Rs 11 billion in grants for the second phase of the Kathmandu Ring Road expansion project.

The agreement was signed at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure, Transport and Urban Development between Minister Sunil Lamsal and Chinese Ambassador Zhang Maoming.

Under the project, the Ring Road will be expanded from Kalanki to Basundhara, completing another major stretch of the capital’s key road network. In the first phase, the road was upgraded from Koteshwor to Kalanki.

Minister Lamsal said the government would ensure smooth implementation and promptly resolve any issues that arise. He also highlighted the government’s priority on developing north-south connectivity and expressed hope for increased Chinese investment in Nepal’s infrastructure sector.

Ambassador Zhang noted that many Chinese investors are interested in Nepal, provided a conducive investment environment is created. #nepal
