Coalition government shall complete full term: Prime Minister Dahal

Katahmandu, March 29: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said that the current coalition government shall complete its full five-year term.

Prime Minister Dahal was responding to a statement made earlier by Mayor of Kathmandu Municipal Corporation Balendra Shah, where he had said that it would be easier for the local levels to function provided the federal government continued for a longer time. They were both speaking at the National Conference of Judicial Committees organized by the KMC in the capital on Wednesday.

Stating that the government will remain stable for five years, Prime Minister Dahal said that the major responsibility for preparing the foundation of socialism envisioned by the Constitution lies with the local level.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Dahal suggested that the local level and the people’s representatives should work to develop a sense of ownership in the people over the state. All local levels should work in accordance with the constitution and laws to serve the people.

On behalf of the federal government, the Prime Minister pledged to take special measures to promoting the local level judicial committees, as it has helped the service users to free themselves from financial burden, maintain social unity, and get justice without unnecessary hassles.

He expressed the belief that such gatherings would help maintain uniformity in the work of local level in the administration of justice, sharing experiences, coordinating with the federal government and integrating problems and making common efforts to solve them.

Also speaking at the programme, Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Aman Lal Modi urged the local levels to work as per the aspirations and needs of the people while Minister of Internal Affairs and Law of Bagmati Province, Ganga Narayan Shrestha, was of the view that the local level should become more responsive in providing services to the people.

Earlier, KMC Mayor Shah wished all the judicial committees create an environment where the victims can get justice at the local level itself.

Deputy Mayor and Judicial Committee Coordinator of KMC Sunita Dangol said that the conference was organized with the aim of sharing the experience of justice delivery at the local level across the country.

Around 550 people’s representatives from all over the country are participating in the two-day conference.
