Congress formally joins government, new ministers sworn in



Kathmandu, March 31: President Ram Chandra Paudel administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Ministers.

President Paudel administered the oath to the Deputy Prime Minister and Ministers in a special ceremony held at the Presidential Office Sheetal Niwas on Friday. Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Speaker Devraj Ghimire, Chairman of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, Acting Chief Justice Harikrishna Karki, heads of constitutional bodies and others participated in the occasion.

Prime Minister Dahal has expanded the Cabinet incorporating Nepali Congress, CPN (Unified Socialist) and other fringe parties. Prime Minister Dahal has reshuffled the cabinet comprising Nepali Congress, CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajwadi Party, Loktantrik Samajwadi Party, Nagarik Unmukti Party.

Mr Purna Bahadur Khadka – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defense (Nepali Congress)

Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat – Ministry of Finance (Nepali Congress)

Mr Ramesh Rijal – Industry, Commerce and Supply (Nepali Congress)

Ms Sita Gurung – Urban Development  (Nepali Congress)

Mr Shakti Bahadur Basnet – Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation (CPN – Maoist Centre)

Mr Beduram Bhusal – Agriculture and Livestock Development (CPN – Unified Socialist)

Mr Prakash Jawala – Physical Infrastructure and Transport Management (CPN – Unified Socialist)

Mr Ashok Rai – Education, Science and Technology (JSP)

Mr Sharat Singh Bhandari – Labour, Employment and Social Security (LSP)

Mrs Ranjita Shrestha Chaudhary – Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation (Nagarik Unmukti Party)
