Kathmandu, April 6: The Department of Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection has brought four major retail outlets under scrutiny as part of its ongoing market monitoring drive aimed at ensuring fair trade practices.
Following on-site inspections, the department found irregularities and has directed the businesses to appear within three days with all relevant documents related to their operations.
The outlets instructed to comply include Metro Market Pvt. Ltd., Imadol; Salesberry Cash & Carry Pvt. Ltd., Maharajgunj; Mega Mart Pvt. Ltd., Bishalnagar; and Bhatbhateni Supermarket & Departmental Store, Chakrapath.
Similarly, Muna Krishi Limited has also been asked to submit necessary documents. In addition, 10 other firms have been issued corrective instructions.
The department stated that such inspections are being conducted in the presence of local stakeholders and consumer rights activists, with the objective of controlling black marketing and preventing the sale and distribution of substandard or inedible goods. #nepal
