Cooperative Taskforce submits report to PM Dahal

Kathmandu, Sept 12: The Cooperative Sector Reform Suggestion Taskforce has submitted its report. The taskforce submitted its report to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ today, said Secretary at the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation, Gokarna Mani Duwadi.

A cabinet meeting held on May 9 had formed the Cooperative Sector Reform Suggestion Taskforce under coordination of National Planning Commission member, Dr Jaykant Raut, approving the concept paper of Cooperative Sector Reform Taskforce, 2080.

The taskforce submitted the report to the government along with measures for the solution of the problems seen in the cooperative sector after identifying them.

Duwadi shared that the taskforce has suggested to the government to bring some plans in order to give immediate relief to victims of cooperative.

Similarly, it also gave suggestion to the government to take initiatives to resolve problems of cooperative sector making some legal reforms. “The report has short-term, mid-term and long-term suggestions,” he mentioned.

Receiving the report, Prime Minister Dahal directed the bodies concerned to take initiative in order to resolve the problems of cooperative sector, and to formulate necessary policy for the long-term solution of the problems, said Secretary Duwadi.
