Country cannot be pushed to regressive system, UML General Secretary says

Shankar Pokhrel

Biratnagar, March 23: General Secretary of CPN (UML) Shankar Pokhrel has argued that Nepali people won’t move backward to the darkness from the current state of republic system, which he termed as brightness.

Inaugurating the 10th national conference of Press Chautari Nepal in Biratnagar on Sunday, the UML General Secretary said the current government formed with the alliance of two major political parties in the country was working for the cause of the people’s interests.

Stating that the two major political parties joined hands together for political stability in the country, Pokhrel mentioned that the powerful government would ensure political outlet in the country and would address the pressing issues of the time.

On the occasion, Pokhrel said that people were deprived of their fundamental rights during the one-party Panchayat-era and shared that the country has advanced towards nation building process with the development in education, health care, road, drinking water supplies and other fundamental needs.

Likewise, he asked the journalists to inform the people by being based on facts. In a democratic system, the media would not be controlled but wrongdoing cannot be exempted in the name of democracy. Similarly, Pokhrel cautioned that the citizens would suffer in case our democracy was pushed to crisis.#nepal #political #rss
