COVID-19: 10 more succumb, with 521 new infections in 24 hours

Ten more people have died of coronavirus (COVID-19) infection in the country in the past 24 hours. This takes the total COVID-19 deaths to 11,892 as of Sunday.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, altogether 521 new infections were reported in the country in the last 24 hours. This was revealed from 10,115 samples tested through RT-PCR and antigen methods during the same period. However, the COVID-19 positivity rate trend looks declining.

Also, a total of 3,935 infected ones recovered in the past 24 hours. So far, 938,583 people have recovered with the recovery rate standing at 96.5 per cent. There are still 22,584 active cases of COVID-19 in the country.

According to the Ministry, a total of 21,692 people are in home isolation, 892 in institutional isolation, 181 in ICUs and 33 patients in ventilators.

Meanwhile, 22,584 people received the COVID-19 vaccines in the country today. With this, a total of 35,315,715 doses of vaccine have been administered across the country, in which 18,238,992 have received first dose and 16,357,977 have received full dose.

The government have been inoculating Covid-19 vaccine to above 12 years of age. The government has managed vaccines from Pfizer, Moderna, Covishield, Japan-made AstraZeneca, Vero Cell, Swedish AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson.

Nepal has so far received 46,570,720 doses of vaccine.

With the massive vaccination campaign and successful awareness raising programs, the government has lifted most of the COVID-19 related restrictions. The schools, colleges and entertainment business, including night-time entertainment activities have opened from today.
