COVID-19: 262 infected, 1,338 recoveries in past 24 hours

A total of 262 new infections of COVID-19 were recorded in the country in the past 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

This was revealed in the 9,815 antigen and PCR tests conducted in various laboratories across the country. Similarly,1,338 infected enjoyed full recovery in a day. So far, 951,394 people have been recovered from the flu-like infection.

The recovery rate stands at 97.5 per cent, said the Ministry.

Meanwhile, four more people died due to deadly infection in the past 24 hours taking the fatality caseload from deadly infection to 11,921 as of now, informed the Ministry. Case fatality rate stands at 1.2 per cent.

Currently, there are 12,244 active cases of COVID-19 in the country. The daily caseload have decreased rapidly across the country.

Meanwhile, 33,254 people were vaccinated against COVID-19 today alone, shared the Ministry.

The government of Nepal have been putting tremendous effort to control the spread of the virus. Mass vaccination campaign, including awareness raising campaigns, mass wearing and implementation of other safety protocols have helped to minimise the risk of COVID-19.

Likewise, the government shut public transport, implement the odd-even traffic rules in the Kathmandu valley and closed all the private and public schools, colleges and universities. The government also curtailed their services and online, virtual system was introduced.

The risk zone people were given booster dose of vaccine. The 60 years and above age group people received booster dose. While all the people from 12 years and above were encouraged to vaccinate immediately.

The government had a target to fully vaccinate all the qualified age group. Nearly 70 percent people have already received at least one dose of vaccine, which is itself a milestone. Nepal is providing Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Covishield, Moderna, Vero Cell vaccines. Nepal is receiving these vaccines through COVAX facility, including donations from different countries as China, India, Japan, USA and purchase from vaccines producing countries.
