KATHMANDU: The closed-door session of the eighth national general convention of the CPN (Maoist Centre) has endorsed its draft statute.
The draft was endorsed unanimously after standing committee member Dev Gurung, who presented the document in the closed session, responded to the queries raised on the content.
Gurung had urged general convention representatives to pass the draft statute so that the upcoming central committee would give it a final shape.
The new 299-member central committee would be elected from the mixed election system—50 per cent through direct election and 50 per cent through proportional system.
The central committee would now nominate 15 per cent member of a total members replacing the earlier provision of 10 percent.
The general convention would elect a central committee and central committee would elect politburo, standing committee and office-bearers.
Politburo, standing committee members and office-bearers would be elected on the basis of inclusive principle.
