Cricket World Cup League-2: Namibia trounces Nepal by four wickets



Kathmandu, Feb 15: Namibia defeated Nepal by four wickets in an opening match held under the triangular series of ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League-2.

Wining the match held at the Kirtipur-based TU Cricket Ground today, Namibia has garnered two points. Chasing a target of 133 runs posted by Nepal, Namibia met it in 33.1 overs at the loss of six wickets.

In Namibia’s victory, Jan Nicolaas Frylinck scored the highest 34 runs including four fours in 53 balls.

Similarly, Jan Nicol Loftie-Eaton scored 31 while Michael van Lingen contributed 23 to the teams followed by 15 from the Nicholas Davin. Towards bowling, Sompal Kami took three wickets while Lalit Rajbanshi took two.

Similarly, Rohit Kumar Paudel dismissed one batter. Prior to this, Nepal was invited to bat first losing the toss and finished the first innings scoring 132 in 41.1 overs at the loss of all wickets.

For Nepal, Bhim Sarki scored the highest 44 to the team in 86 balls with two fours and one six. Similarly, Gulshan Jha made 21 runs along with three boundaries in 31 balls.

Karan KC added 16 including three boundaries in 38 balls. Captain Rohit Kumar Paudel could score just one run in 13 balls. Kushal Malla hit 15 runs with one boundary and one six in 22 balls. Sompal Kami was out with two runs in his name while Kushal Bhurtel failed to score any run.

Similarly, Pawan Sharraf contributed 12 to the team followed by eight from Anil Shah and four by Asif Sheikh. In course of containing Nepal to 132, Namibia’s Gerhard Erasmus took five wickets while Jack Brassell and Ruben Trumpelmann took two wickets each.

Nepal will meet the Netherlands on Saturday for the second match. #Nepal
