Kathmandu, May 22: The US Embassy in Kathmandu has refused to grant a visa to cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane.
Sandeep had applied for an American visa to play in the Twenty20 Cricket World Cup to be held in America and the West Indies. On Wednesday, Lamichhane said on X social network that he did not get the visa.
Lamichhane, who is going to play in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) in 2019, was initially not granted a visa by the American Embassy. After being criticized on social media again, the US called and gave the visa.
He apologized to the Nepali cricket supporters as he did not get a visa.
After Lamichhane was acquitted in the rape case by Patan High Court, Nepal Cricket Association (CAN) made Lamichhane participate in the Nepali team to play the Twenty20 World Cup.
Other Nepalese players have already reached America for the Twenty-20 World Cup cricket. Nepal is playing its first match against the Netherlands on June 4 (22 June).
