Dengue cases increasing in high himalayan areas

Solu, Aug 9: Pash Sherpa of Salleri , the district headquarters of Solukhubu, is worried to realise the increased risk of mosquito-borne disease in the locality.

Until few years back, he was not aware of the diseases to be caused by mosquito as there was no such risk in absence of mosquitoes.

Now the situation is different. Mosquitoes have already stared climbing and have reached the headquarters of the hilly district in the Koshi province.

The observation of Salleri folks that the presence of mosquotoes have been dense here. As they believed,it entered the districts through motor vehicles.  They might have been gradualy adjusted with temperature here and becme resistant to incresng temperature of Salleri said KB Ghimire.

Locals say in sumer days are relatively hooter than in the past. “We feel increasing themepratre here,” Ghiire said, adding that in winter snowfall has been occasional.

According to Hawapani Mapan Kendr Salleri, tempertuare in Sallero is being measured at 25-28 degree. It reaches 22-23 degree Celsius in the morning and evening.

Their assemsent that increasing temperature has provided a favorable condituion for mosquitoes for breeding.

This is not just the case of Salleri, but of Sotang, Nechasalyan, Mapya Dudhkoshi areas. #dengue #nepal #solukhumbu
