Kathmandu: Dr Shiva Maya Tumbahangfe has resigned from the post of Deputy-Speaker of the House of Representatives today. She has tendered her resignation letter to the House Speaker.
The ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) secretariat has already instructed Shiva Maya to resign from her post. According to the Constitution of Nepal, no party can hold two posts (Speaker and Deputy Speaker) of House of Representatives from a single party.
The NCP has nominated senior leader Mr Agni Sapkota as for the post of Speaker. The post of Speaker has been lying vacant for more than 3 months after Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara stepped down due to sexual assault case against his own staff.
