Kathmandu, July 13: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast flash floods in small rivers for the next three days due to heavy to very heavy rain.
According to the Department, there is a risk of flooding in small rivers in Panchthar, Ilam, Jhapa, Morang, Saptari, Sunsari, Bhojpur, Sankhuwasabha, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Sindhuli, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, Lamjung, Tanahun, Makawanpur, Bara, Parsa, Rautahat, Chitwan, Nawalparasi Purba, Nawalparasi Paschim, Palpa, Kaski, Parbat, Myagdi, Syangja, Kailali, and nearby districts.
Department’s hydrologist Binod Parajuli said that Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Kavrepalanchok, and other nearby districts are at high risk of sudden floods.
There are chances of moderate to heavy rainfall/snowfall with thunder/lightning in many places of the mountainous region of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at a few places of the mountainous region of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces this afternoon.
Similarly, moderate to heavy rainfall with thunder/lightning is likely at many places in the hilly and Tarai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, in the hilly and Tarai region of Madhes, Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, and in some places of the hilly and mountainous region of Karnali province.
Heavy rainfall is likely to occur at a few places in the hilly region of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces, and at one or two places in the Tarai region of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces including Madhes province.
Tonight, the weather will be mostly cloudy in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces while it will be generally cloudy in Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
Moderate to heavy rain/snowfall with thunder/lightning has been forecast for many places in the mountainous region of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, some places in the mountainous region of Gandaki province and a few places in the mountainous region of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces.
A few places in the hilly and Tarai areas of Koshi and Bagmati, and Madhesh provinces are likely to see heavy to very heavy rain, while heavy rain is expected at one or two places in the hilly and Tarai areas of Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
