CHITWAN: Prime Minister Sher bahadur Deuba has said dialogue and co-work were required to make common views on the major issues related to the country and people.
Addressing the 10th National Congress of the CPN (UML) in Chitwan on Friday, he said the differences in policy among the parties should be finalized through the processes determined by the constitution.
PM Deuba, who is also the Nepali Congress president, said: “We should build a system acceptable to us all. The Nepali Congress is committed to these norms and values.”
Congratulating the CPN(UML) for organizing its 10th National Congress as per the spirit of the democratic parliamentary rule and process, he wished for the full success of the Congress.
Stating that the parties have been successful in establishing the democratic republic system in the country going through many ups and downs in the democracy movement, PM Deuba reminded that the new constitution was written from the Constituent Assembly through joint efforts of all and it was also the responsibility of all the parties to institutionalise it.
He said along with various parties the CPN (UML) too had played an important role in this campaign of institutionalizing the norms and values of democracy through the new constitution.
“We all the parties need to be one in order to make the democratic norms and values as a way of life, to establish rule of law and people’s rights, to protect the individual freedom and national autonomy, to make the country prosperous by ensuring people’s participation and to protect the nationality,” the Prime Minister exhorted.
He stressed that solution to every problem could be found through consensus and goodwill.
Describing UML Chair Oli and his other colleagues as his friends from the prison days, PM said the parties should carry out works so that the people will not have to suffer the kind of situation they underwent while carrying out movement for restoration of democracy in the country.
He said he was committed to establishing the norms and values, and institutionalizing the same, urging the UML to extend support in the task of establishing a system of the government’s process and rules and regulations.
Noting that extending the reach of vaccines was their first goal when the nation was suffering from COVID-19 pandemic, PM Deuba said they were successful in achieving this great goal, the goal of saving lives, with the support and cooperation of all – political parties, social organisations, citizens, friendly countries, and donor agencies.
He added that the coronavirus infection is now being controlled and the economic situation was also gradually becoming normal.
PM and Nepali Congress president Deuba said his party was committed to maintaining good governance, goodwill and prosperity as per the aspiration of the constitution by building collaboration with all the parties represented in the parliament.
