
Kathmandu, May 16: Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung, has underlined the need of fostering digital literacy to meet the objectives of digital framework.
During a programme organized by the Computer Association of Nepal (CAN) Federation on ‘Multi-stakeholder Discussion on Digital Nepal Framework 2.0 and Way Forward’ here Friday, Minister Gurung admitted that although Nagarik Apps was in operation, the literacy and skills to use it were slow off the mark. “Digital literacy is imperative to materialize the Digital Nepal Framework. So, literacy programmes need to be taken together,” he stressed.
It is the government’s responsibility to prepare digital infrastructures and necessary policy, said Minister Gurung, who is also the spokesperson of government, informing that government had prepared DNF 2.0 aligning it with the 16th periodic plan. It has focused on strengthening connectivity, technical skills, data integration and cyber security, he added.
Ministry Secretary Radhika Aryal said the DNF 2.0 was prepared based on the experiences of DNF. She sought suggestions from private sectors on it.
CAN Federation’s Chairperson Sunaina Ghimire Pande said it is a digital age, so we need to augment financial investment in addition to policy in this sector. #nepal #digital framework #rss
