DPM Lamichhane directs officials to treat migrant workers with dignity at TIA

Kathmandu, March 26: Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane has directed the immigration officials to treat migrant workers in a decent manner and not to exhibit any misconduct as migrant workers, he said, are the ones contributing to nation’s economy by sending remittances.

Minister Lamichhane urged the immigration officers to immediately mend their acts of giving unnecessary hassles and stress to the migrant workers.

Addressing an event organized by the Department of Immigration on Tuesday, Minister Lamichhane asked the government officials to give the impressions of a change to the service recipients by treating them with positive conduct and showing sympathy from today itself.

He asked the Department to unveil the plans for reforms in immigration and assured firm support from the Ministry.

Saying that a large number of honest persons suffer due to some dishonest people’s conducts, Lamichhane stressed that honest people should be encouraged by identifying the dishonest ones soon.

On the occasion, the DPM said that the country’s immigration should be made technology-friendly meeting the international standards but admitted that there are some challenges to train the human resources and to provide sufficient resources at the workstations.

Home Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal directed the officials not to commit mistakes intentionally. #Nepal
