Kathmandu: The Election Commission has issued six-point directives to make the process of vote counting and notification of election results easy and effective. The Commission has decided to issue instructions to all Chief Election Officers, Election Officers, State and District Election Offices.
The commission has directed to set up press corner at every polling station to provide easy access for journalists to receive information and to appoint an assistant election officer or any other employee of the relevant election officer’s office to facilitate the flow of information.
Similarly, at the beginning of the counting process, necessary arrangements should be made so that the video and photo journalists can take pictures and visuals of the counting place, and the vote results obtained at every hour of the counting will be consolidated by the employees, parties, candidates and representatives in the counting and entered into the information system of the Election Commission by the office of the relevant Chief Election Officer, according to Rishi Ram Bhusal, Assistant Spokesperson of the Commission.
The election officials have been urged to provide notification of the vote result by means of loud speaker or display board or other means based on the agreement between political parties and candidates. The Commission has also requested the media not to spread false information about the counting of votes without confirming it officially.
