Kathmandu, Aug 23: Eight people succumbed to death when a passenger bus fell into Trishuli river. The bus traveling from Kathmandu to Myagdi headquarters via Pokhara, Beni, met with an accident at Gajuri in Dhading today morning.
The bus with registration number Province 3-01-005 Kha 9952 veered off the road and fell into the river.
According to Dhading District Police Chief Gautam Mishra, eight people died in the accident. Similarly, another injured eight people have been rescued.
Sharmila Bisural, Deputy Chairperson of Gajuri Rural Municipality, informed that five injured people have been sent to Kathmandu.
According to the police, the bus fell into Trishuli near Chahran in Gajuri. Half of the bus was submerged in water. The injured have been rescued and are being treated at Gajuri health post, Gajuri Hospital and Highway Hospital. Five people who could not be recovered at Gajuri Hospital have been sent to Kathmandu.
Nepal Police, Armed Police Force personnel and local people were involved in the rescue activities. However, the number of passengers travelling in the bus could not be ascertained.
