Kathmandu, Jan 5: The Election Commission (EC) on Sunday appointed Chief Returning Officers and Returning Officers in all districts for the conduct of the upcoming House of Representatives (HoR) election scheduled for March 5.
In accordance with Clause 8 of the House of Representatives Act, 2074 BS, the EC has appointed 77 district judges as Chief Returning Officers.
According to the EC, a meeting of the Commission decided to appoint district judges as Chief Returning Officers and second-class officers from the judicial service as Returning Officers, based on the recommendation of the Judicial Service Commission. The appointments will take effect from January 9.
The EC has directed that the Chief Returning Officers and Returning Officers be deployed to their respective election constituencies from January 16.
The Commission has also instructed the concerned officials to open and operate the offices of the Chief Returning Officers and Returning Officers and to carry out election-related programmes in the districts in preparation for the March 5 poll. #nepal #election
