Kathmandu: The Election Commission has instructed to resume the counting of votes in Ilam Constituency No. 2, which was stopped due to a dispute between CPN UML and Nepali Congress.
When the counting of votes was in its final stage, the counting was stopped after a dispute arose between the UML and the Congress from Saturday evening. The commission sent a letter to the election officer and instructed them to resume the counting immediately.
In this constituency, a tough competition has been seen between former Speaker and CPN UML leader Subash Chandra Nemwang and Nepali Congress candidate Dambar Bahadur Khadka. Nemwang is leading by just 130 votes.
In Constituency-1, the senior leader of CPN (Unified Socialist) Jhalanath Khanal has been demanding for the re-election.
Meanwhile, the Chief Election Officer at Ilam has issued a notice to resuming the vote counting.
