CHITWAN: Senior leader of the Nepali Congress Ramchandra Poudel has ruled out the possibility of election coming April.

Addressing a mass gathering of party leaders and cadres at Sharadanagar Town of Bharatpur Metropolis on Saturday, senior leader Poudel argued if the House of Representatives (HoR) were restored, Nepali Congress would in a decisive situation.

The NC therefore must not vacillate on election, he said, adding, “The move to dissolve HoR must be corrected and HoR restored.” He further argued that NCP was for election not with the strength of majority, and the HoR was dissolved on whim.

“Court is the final agency to interpret constitution. Constitution has the provision that Prime Minister can not dissolve parliament but continue for five years,” he said, adding that there was no obstruction in the parliament either.

Leader Poudel accused the PM of dissolving parliament because of intraparty dispute, which, he said, would cause instability in the country. He also reminded that the court was not pressed but appealed to adhere to the constitution.

“We’re compelled to take to street. NC does not remain mute over defilement of democracy. Election can be held only by protecting constitution. People’s mandate for five years must not be trampled,” he underscored.

On the occasion, NC leader Dila Sangraula and Chitwan district president of NC Jit Narayan Shrestha regretted that NC lost much by voting to other party in the last election in Chitwan.

Central member and former minister Mahesh Acharya argued that even Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and Madhav Kumar Nepal were culpable in the dissolution of the parliament. Entire NCP should own up the parliament dissolution. Till the HoR is restored, struggle will continue, he warned.

Earlier, the NC had organized a protest rally at Ratnanagar.
