KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress Vice President Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar has said he was falsely implicated in the Lalita Niwas (Baluwatar) land scam. It was motivated by political vendetta, he added.
Organizing a press conference here on Wednesday, Vice-President Gachchhadar viewed he was continuously and actively involved in politics for democracy and civic freedoms throughout the life. So, implicating me in the Baluwatar land scam was to sabotage my political image and public life, leader Gachchhadar underscored.
Leader Gachchhadar spoke publicly for the first time about this issue today after the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had filed a case against him at Special Court on February 5, 2020.
Moreover, he had been present at the court on July 14 early this year. After he attended before the court, he was released after deposing the bail amount.
“The case was a sheer conspiracy to sabotage my 50 year-long political and social life. If the documents that built allegation on me are read well, they indicate that it was mere plot against me,” he underscored.
According to him, a long-term plan was formulated by the government to expand the residence of the Prime Minister and high-level dignitaries long before he was looking after the Ministry of Physical Planning.
He had only presented the proposal before the Cabinet led by then Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal as per his direction.
The decision on expansion of the PM’s residence was forwarded unanimously by the Cabinet. I just presented the proposal in the Cabinet as the line minister, he reminded.
He further argued that he had not done anything that harms the country or only for his personal benefit.
