Kathmandu, May 7: The government is for bringing a budget that generates employment and makes the service delivery smooth and effective. Government is focused on preparing the budget which spurs inclusive economic development.
In the today’s meeting of House of Representatives, Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat presented a proposal seeking deliberations on the principles and priorities of appropriation bill (except tax) for fiscal year, 2080/81. He informed that budget would be brought by paying attention to make the economy dynamic and ensuring inclusive economic growth.
He claimed there were positive signs on national economy with the increase in tourism, in remittance and foreign currency reserve despite challenges. In order to bring economy to the track, frugality must be maintained in current expenditure and capital expenditure made focused on result, Minister Mahat said, making aware the House on negative sides as low economic growth, meager revenue collection, rising public expenditure.
“Bad debt and trade loss have also caused challenges. Forthcoming budget will encourage private sector, focus transparency in public spending, achievement of SDGs,” he reiterated in the meeting.
Promotion of export, of digital economy and reduction of production, quality education, health and drinking water, social justice are other areas to be incorporated in the budget, while reduction of climate change impact, development of green economy, guarantee of source for social security, institutionalization of federal democratic public, zero tolerance against corruption, special focus on agriculture and production, clean energy, urbanization, convincing and safe aviation, tourism promotion are points to be addressed in budget, according to Minister Mahat.
The discussion on the Finance Minister’s proposal will be held from Monday to Wednesday in the HoR meeting.
