Kathmandu, Feb 20: The Ministry of Finance has ensured an additional source of NRs 7.5 billion for the purchase of chemical fertilizers required in the current fiscal year 2022/23.
The Ministry of Finance has agreed to the proposal made by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development for the purchase of chemical fertilizers.
Of the guaranteed resources, NRs 2.4 billion will be arranged from the budget allocated for the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, while NRs 2.5 billion will be included in the ceiling of the next fiscal year. NRs 2.6 billion will be disbursed after the liability is created.
NRs 15 billion was allocated for the current fiscal year 2022/23 to purchase chemical fertilizers. However, Ministry of Finance had ensured an additional source of NRs 16 billion for the purchase of chemical fertilizers. According to the demand of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development, additional resources have been arranged.
Five days ago, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel held a discussion with Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Jwala Kumari Sah, Agriculture Development Secretary Govinda Prasad Sharma and others regarding facilitating the procurement and smooth supply of chemical fertilizers. On that occasion, Minister Poudel said that there would be no problem of resources for the purchase of chemical fertilizers and requested to start the necessary process immediately.
