Fire destroyed thirteen houses in Khotang



Khotang, April 25: At least 13 houses in Barahpokhari Rural Municipality-1, Barahpokhari, Khotang, have been destroyed as the fire in the community forest spread to the village.

Details of the damage have not been received until Thursday morning.

According to Dhak Bahadur Karki, Ward Chair of Barahpokhari-1, two houses and scaffolding of Mohan Lal Thapamagar of Bhirgaon, one house and three scaffolds of Purna Bahadur Magar, house and two sheds of Bhadrasingh Magar, house and scaffolding of Subas Thapamagar and house of Madan Thapamagar have been burnt.

Similarly, two houses and two scaffoldings, 40 goats, half a tola of gold, Rs 50,000 in cash were burnt by the fire of Gangamayan Magar in Dansingtar.

Meanwhile, the houses of Suman Magar of Khorsane village and Lekhraj Khatiwada of Gahte have been burnt. The house of Hom Bahadur Katwal and Padam Bahadur Katwal of Dandakhark village has been burnt by the fire.

It is reported that the kitchen house and goat shed of Bam Bahadur Magar of Bhanjyang were also destroyed by the fire in Raktamala Community Forest.

Local residents have said that the fire is spreading between Dandakhark and Khalle, Pokhri-Rankuli area and Chuiyantar and Ranachhap. The local Bhuwan Shrestha said that although the Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and local residents were trying to put out the fire, they were not successful.

According to the police, there have been one hundred and nine fire incidents in the district since last July, and property damage worth over Rs. 4 crores.
