First Choice Foods exports frozen French fries to the US market

Kathmandu, Nov 5: For the first time, Nepal has exported premium frozen French fries worth Rs 5.488 million (USD 38,480) to the United States through the Bhairahawa Customs point.

According to the Customs Office, Rupandehi-based First Choice Foods Pvt. Ltd. exported 43,520 kilograms of frozen French fries (two containers) to GENTCO LLC DBA TCF Foods, an American company.

In a press release, the Bhairahawa Customs Office stated that Nepal-produced food items have now entered a highly competitive market like the United States, marking a significant milestone in the country’s industrial development, foreign exchange earnings, and entrepreneurship promotion.

The entry of Nepali French fries into the US market is expected to pave the way for the expansion of other Nepali food products in international markets.

The Customs Office reaffirmed its commitment to continuously improving export promotion services, information access, and procedural facilitation. It also emphasized plans to strengthen cooperation with the private sector, producers, transporters, and quality control agencies to further enhance Nepal’s export potential.

Before entering the US market, First Choice Foods had been exporting its French fry products to India.

The company, Nepal’s largest French fry manufacturer, has a production capacity of 30 metric tons of potatoes per day.

According to customs data, Nepal imports potatoes worth at least Rs 15 billion annually from India, Belgium, and other countries.

Potato-based products produced by First Choice Foods are sold in leading supermarkets and retail chains across Nepal, including Bhatbhateni, Valley Cold Store, Salesberry, Big Mart, Burger House, Sindhu Fresh, among others. #nepal #food #fries
