First round of talks between the government and Chanda group ended

KATHMANDU: The first round of talks has been held between the Government of Nepal and Netra Bikram Chanda Group on Wednesday. The talks held at the PM’s residence in Baluwatar this morning, said Dr. Rajan Bhattarai, a member of the government negotiating team.

The government formed a dialogue committee headed by Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa with Dr Bhattarai as member while Chanda group formed a dialogue committee with senior leader Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma.

The negotiation process has moved forward after the annoucement of dialogue groups. The government has banned Chanda group after their activities were found violent. In a surprise move, the Chanda group were ready to sit for dialogue after the government showed flexibility on demands of Chanda group on nation, nationality and livelihood.
