Kathmandu, Aug 26: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) spokesperson Manish Jha held a meeting with former President Bidya Devi Bhandari at her Bhangal residence on Tuesday morning. The two reportedly discussed various issues, including the detention of RSP President Rabi Lamichhane, for nearly two hours.

According to Jha, former President Bhandari expressed her dissatisfaction over the detention of RSP Chairperson Rabi Lamichhane in custody for trial. Quoting her, Jha told newspolar.com, “I am not satisfied with what is happening to Rabi Ji. I have goodwill towards him.”

Bhandari also criticized the government for failing to return the savings of cooperative depositors. “The cooperative issue has been politicized, but the government failed to initiate returning the depositors’ money,” she was quoted as saying. “Festivals are approaching, and depositors deserve to get their savings back.”

Lamichhane, initially sent to Rupandehi jail in connection with the cooperative funds embezzlement case, has recently been transferred to Nakkhu jail in Lalitpur.

The former President Bhandari also praised the entry of the younger generation into politics with new ideas, according to Jha.

Bhandari argued her membership in UML

Jha further informed that discussions touched upon her own membership in the CPN-UML. He said Bhandari referred to a recent interview journalist Rishi Dhamala conducted with CPN UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, where Oli had clearly stated there was no obstacle for Bhandari’s return to the party.

Bhandari reportedly remarked that UML has no reason to block her membership and recalled that Oli himself had earlier said Bhadari’s return would not be an issue. #nepal #rabi
