Kathmandu, Nov 15: Four Chinese nationals have been arrested on charges of running a marriage bureau in Sohrakhutte, Kathmandu.
Director General of the Department of Immigration (DoI), Ramchandra Tiwari, said that a DoI team arrested them acting on a tipoff that the Chinese citizens who had arrived on business visas were running a marriage bureau. The arrested ones are currently in DoI custody.
The arrests were made on Friday and they are under investigation, Tiwari said.
It is said the arrestees were reportedly marrying off girls from poor and underprivileged families in remote areas to Chinese nationals, and an investigation is ongoing to find out the details. It has also come to light that they had even sent some women to China for marriage purpose.
The DoI has also stated that among those arrested, one is a woman and three are men, some of whom had been travelling on different visas for a long time.
Police constable arrested on charge of killing Ward Chairperson
Police constable Shambhu Yadav has been arrested on charges of murdering Bindeshwar Yadav, the Chairman of Mithila Bihari Municipality–9 in Dhanusha.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Ganesh Bam, police constable Yadav fired shots at Ward Chairman Yadav over a dispute on having a feast.
Police said some people were also injured in the incident. The injured are being treated at the Provincial Hospital in Janakpurdham.
The body of the deceased Yadav has been brought to the hospital for a post-mortem examination. The police stated that Yadav, who fired the shot, was employed at the Dhanusha police. Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
