Four Five-Star hotels added in Nepal recently

Kathmandu, March 26: The number of Five-Star hotels including Boutique Luxury operating in Nepal has reached 22.

According to the Department of Tourism, this year, one hotel has been added to the Boutique Luxury Five-Star category and three hotels have been added to the Five-Star category.

Bhairahawa-based Siddharth International, Kathmandu’s Hotel Lhasa International (Dusit Princess) and Dhumbarahi’s Akama Hotel are under Five-Star classification, while Varnabas Museum hotel has been categorized as Boutique Luxury hotel under Five-Star classification, informed Chun Bahadur Tamang, officer of the hotel branch at the Department.

According to him, with this, the number of Five-Star boutique luxury hotels has reached three. Dwarika’s Hotel and Basera boutique hotels were earlier in this category. According to the department, hotels including Hilton, Jagdamba Hospitality, Hotel Forest Inn, Budhanilkanth Heritage are in the process of Five-Star classification.

The department has regularly updated the licenses by classifying them into five star deluxe and five star level in accordance with the provisions of the Tourism Act-2035, Hotels, Lodges, Restaurants and Resorts, Bars and Guides Regulations 2038 and Tourism Industry Service Flow Directory, 2070.

According to the classification of hotels published by the department, Hotel Mechi Crown Plaza under Vegas City Entertainment Pvt Ltd operating in Dhulabari of Jhapa has been listed at the level of Five Star deluxe hotel.

Hotel The Kingsbury operating in Birtamod in Jhapa and City Hotel Limited (Hyatt Place) opened in Tahachal in Kathmandu have got five star classification. Other five-star hotels include Taragaon Regency (Hyatt Regency), Soaltee Hotel, Hotel Marriott, Hyatt Palace, Chhayandevi Complex (Hotel Loft), Hotel Dela Annapurna, The Malla Hotel, Shangrila Hotel, Pokhara Grand, Tiger One Pvt Ltd, Soaltee Western, Hotel Central Plaza, Hotel The Kingsbury and Ichchha Hotel are under Five Star classification. According to the details of the department, the number of four star level hotels is 34.

According to the Hotel Association of Nepal, Nepal has hotel infrastructure that can accommodate 3.5 million tourists annually. President of the association, Binayak Shah, said that there are more than 10,000 hotel rooms available all over the country. More than five thousand hotels across the country are members of the hotel association. President Shah said that within the next two years, 18 to 20 more star hotels will be operational.

According to the statistics of Nepal Tourism Board, 1.14 million foreign tourists visited Nepal in 2023. In February 2024 alone, 97,426 foreign tourists have entered Nepal. In January, the first month of the year, 79,100 foreign tourists entered Nepal. #Nepal
